Retrofit Bulb Base / Socket Sizes

Christmas bulbs come with various bases, but the two most common are E12 (aka candelabra) and E17 (aka intermediate). The numbers refer to the width of the base (12mm and 17mm).

Village Lighting is the only company that provides C9 bulbs with an E12 base, allowing you to have big bulb Christmas lights on your existing E12 wiring.

Classic and Modern Lighting Solutions

Traditional Incandescent vs. Cutting-Edge SMD LED

The classic incandescent look of a wire filament creates a warm and inviting glow. Incandescent bulbs are more fragile and need to be replaced more often. Additionally, while they are less expensive upfront, they require more electricity, leading to higher bills. But who could argue with that cozy, traditional home look?

Modern LED bulbs give you a highly efficient and brilliant shine. SMD (Surface Mounted Device) LEDs feature a small chip at the base that is more durable, emits more light, and uses less energy. We have enhanced the SMD LED with our Projector Series™ bulbs, which use a refractive lens allowing brighter LED light to reflect off smooth edges to emulate a classic filament look—giving you the best of both worlds.

Bulb Surface Finish Comparison

Bulb Surface Finish

Decorating Your House with Character

The most common holiday lights come in three surface finish types: Ceramic (aka opaque), Transparent, and Faceted. Faceted bulbs have a crystal look that offers a unique sparkle. Ceramic bulbs evenly disperse light, giving it a solid glow. Transparent bulbs display filaments or diodes for a traditional appearance.
